Barry B. Fisher LL.B. is a mediator and arbitrator in Toronto. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1979 and has been an ADR practitioner since 1987. His practice focuses on both labour and employment law matters. He is one of the most often chosen mediators for employment law cases under the Ontario Mandatory Mediator Program (now Rule 24.1).

He is the author of the Wrongful Dismissal Database, an online database published by Carswell, designed to assist lawyers and human resource professionals in determining reasonable notice.

He is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, an organization of leading commercial mediators from around the globe.

Barry is listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada (2008-2022) in the category of Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has also been referred to as a leading member of the employment bar in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.

Barry is a frequent presenter at seminars and educational courses on issues relating to employment law, labour law, and ADR. He is a past Chair and current Executive on the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section of the Ontario Bar Association and a current Executive on the Labour & Employment Section of the Ontario Bar Association. He is also a member of the Ontario Labour Management Arbitrators Association.

Barry is the recipient of the Ontario Bar Association 2011 Award of Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution and served as co-chair of the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Employment Law Summit for 10 years.

Barry is an Executive Committee member of the Canadian Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (CADN), recognizing the top civil ADR practitioners in the nation.
